In 2023, Google I/O, the yearly event where Google present the latest innovations and announcements, had a focus on India. I/O Connect was held in Bengaluru, and Orchid was chosen to be their partners for this big event.

In under 3 weeks, we worked hand in hand with the Google India team to localise the and create the main speakers’ keynotes. With a tight deadline and an ever changing script, we brought Google’s latest innovations to life through beautiful illustrations, motion design and seamless transitions, being part of I/O Connects local success.

During Best Of, Google aims to instill excitement in their developers for the celebratory event. For nominated developers, this involves mobilizing their fans to vote for their favorite apps and games to win the Users’ Choice Award. For Best Of Winners, Users’ Choice Winners, and Honorable Mentions, this entails sharing their achievements on social media and celebrating the moment with their followers. The campaign's goal was to develop four toolkits (Nominees, Winners, Award, and Honorable Mention) that encompassed all the necessary information for developers. Additionally, it aimed to create two one-minute videos to promote the Best of Apps and Games developers winners to the users of Google Play. Adhering to the visual identity of Best Of, we produced four toolkits, 12 animated banners, a specific badge for each toolkit (four in total), a one-minute video for Best of App winners, and a one-minute video for Best of Games winners of 2023. The campaign yielded incredible results, successfully acknowledging the hard work of the developers, a primary objective of the project. Each toolkit effectively communicated the client's intended message, covering everything from guidelines to frequently asked questions. Additionally, the produced videos were shared on YouTube and multiple social media platforms, reaching more than 50 million users.

Every December, Google unveils its "Best of" campaign, spotlighting the year's top movies, shows, and entertainment selections. Best of 2023 featured diverse categories, from most-watched shows and biggest blockbusters to the most-watchlisted, all housed in-product on Google TV. A marketing campaign complemented the launch, aiming at boosting product awareness and engagement. The goal of our brief was to develop creative assets supporting marketing efforts across all channels, ensuring clear explanations of Best of 2023, and highlighting Google TV as a premier content curation and recommendation platform. In response, we crafted the key visual identity for 2023, delivering one hero banner, a captivating 30-second sizzle reel, and multiple assets for email, social media, and partner amplification. The outcomes of this campaign significantly bolstered Google TV's connection with existing users through its appealing and updated identity. It also solidified GTV's position as the ultimate go-to source for the best in entertainment.

Every year, the team at Google Play organises an award ceremony for the best apps, games, and books of the year. For the past two years, Orchid has played a crucial role in producing all the visual assets the award campaign contains. In 2023, Google Play tasked us with elevating the style of the visual identity, making it more prestigious and glamorous and granting us the opportunity to propose a new identity for the 2023 awards. The primary objective of the campaign was to elevate Google Play Best Of using the new branding of Google Play, positioning it as the celebratory and prestigious reward for the leading apps and games. To achieve this, we delivered 48 new original illustrations, 190 animated banners, and one developer guideline. The results of this campaign were absolutely incredible; we managed to completely change the way the awards were perceived by the audience, elevating the style and prestige of the awards. Additionally, we received multiple recognitions from our clients at Google who were impressed by the value of our work and deliverables.

Working in partnership with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Startup Hub of India, Google’s Appscale Academy is a growth and development program to train early to mid-stage startups to build high-quality apps for the world.

Throughout this inaugural program, we worked closely with Google to build an introductory video as well as assets that were used to promote the developers’ apps to potential VCs.

As part of a bigger campaign where Orchid worked on the customer anthem video, the Google Chrome Enterprise team also relied on us to create the Chrome Browser Cloud Management product video. In this case, the objective was to come up with an explainer video to provide in-depth information about the product, feature by feature, to convey that the Chrome browser is the perfect tool for any organisation.

Once again, we were in charge of the full creative process as well as the creation of the video, including shooting and post-production. This 2 minute video was also used across different platforms: Youtube, Linkedin and Chrome's website.

In February 2020, Orchid undertook the task of creating the keynote presentation for Hiroshi Lockheimer to present at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event. The challenge presented was to develop a visually compelling and straightforward presentation that would be displayed on an impressive screen. The objective was to commemorate the 10-year partnership between Android and Samsung while showcasing the latest Android innovations, including 5G, new form factors, and enhanced accessibility.

Orchid delivered a clean and concise presentation, ensuring that the visuals were impactful on the impressive screen at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event, complementing Hiroshi Lockheimer's message, allowing it to take center stage.

The presentation was well-received at the event, successfully communicating the long standing collaboration between Android and Samsung. The visual simplicity of the design enhanced the overall impact, making it memorable for the audience.

Orchid played a pivotal role in crafting the open Beta launch campaign for H2 2022. The campaign comprised videos, GIFs, and static assets localized for 14 markets worldwide.

We created an engaging set of assets that clearly communicated the benefits of Google Play Games, emphasizing seamless cross-platform gaming and considering market nuances for localizations for a broad and impactful reach.

The campaign content was strategically showcased on various platforms, including the Android Developers Blog and social media channels like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, resulting in a significant amplification of awareness of Google Play Games' multi-platform gaming experience. Our tailored assets successfully reached diverse global audiences, generating engagement across platforms and interest in the open Beta launch.

The Android Product Marketing team approached us to help create a "switching to Android" brochure for 1,500+ Verizon stores across the US. We created the layout, design and messaging with instructions on how customers can transfer data to their new phones when they purchase one.

The brochure needed to be a step-by-step descriptive tool for both seasoned Android users (switching to a new Android device) or new adopters (iOS to Android), whilst reassuring them on data safety policies and FAQs.

Due to the rise in Covid-19 cases the Google team decided to cancel their participation in the event and instead focused on communicating their newest launches and features through the blog only.

Google Chrome Enterprise needed an informative and persuasive customer anthem video to show credibility, debunk myths, and teach IT decision makers and general customers about the product benefits.

We took this challenge as an oportunity to create an ad that truly connected with its audience by adding a tad of humour to an otherwise informational product video. We came up with the "a day in the life" concept, where we followed Damon (an IT manager) through a typical day at work, showcasing how the Google Chrome browser helped him be on top of things in an easy manner. Orchid led the entire process, from concept to final post-production, including the organisation and direction of the video shooting in NYC.

The final 60 second piece was used to promote the product in Youtube, Linkedin and Chrome's website.

As part of the DMF campaign, Google Play asked us to work on a video to promote Garena's Free Fire Max game, following a very similar style to the ads created to promote various Supercell games that we created originally. The objective of this video was to communicate its availability to play on Google Play Games, cross-platform on PC and mobile.

We created a video that highlighted the features of Google Play Games while relating it to Free Fire Max by using exciting content from its IP, encouraging viewers to install the app and start playing. The outcomes of the campaign were heightened awareness of Google Play Games and its key benefits, an increase of downloads and installs as well as higher user engagement cross-platform.

Google One reached out to us with the aim of creating a product video to showcase the new advantages for existing Google One subscribers and potential ones. To effectively convey the message, we proposed a 3D solution without a voiceover, aiming for a powerful visual concept. The goal was to highlight the contrast between basic services and premium features, emphasizing the value proposition of Google One and encouraging viewers to subscribe.

The delivered video seamlessly transitions from 2D illustrations portraying basic services to a dynamic 3D environment representing premium offerings. Additionally, an original soundtrack with custom sound design enhances the immersive brand experience.

The rebranding video achieved high levels of viewer engagement and subscription interest, making it a successful asset for Google One's latest campaign.

Best Of is Google Play’s annual awards campaign where the best digital content and best developers of the year are celebrated. In 2022 we worked with the Google Play team to come up with a creative concept and apply it to different assets, focusing on creating content that engaged users to vote and celebrate winners.

The campaign showcased three long-form videos promoting: User Voting Apps Games Nominees, Winner Apps and Winner Games. We also created four Mini Videos for Winner Apps and Games. Plus adapted all material for various social media channels (banners, animations, static visuals, etc.).

The Head of Android Partner Marketing for the Middle East reached out to request an adaptation of an existing Direct Carrier Billing video dating 3 years prior for a partner in Kuwait.

We suggested refreshing the video and future versions with new personalized concepts for each market, with punchy copy and local references that resonate with users. In the end, we settled on a template model that could be adapted to different partners, with new device 3D renders and a whole background environment uplift to make this video more visually appealing.

Orchid was privileged to collaborate with Radisson Blu at the Kigali Convention Centre (KCC) to celebrate the New Year. We designed, organised and orchestrated to the last detail an amazing 2-part drone light show of 100 drones which was delivered before and after the first minutes of 2024, synced with fireworks at the countdown.

This show served as the first step in forging a strong connection between Radisson Blu, the Kigali Convention Center and Orchid, with numerous exciting projects yet to come.
